It's true that EDA tools tend to crash more often. But consider that far
less money is spent on developing EDA tools (even though the price per set
is much higher) than on M$ software. Also consider that the task that EDA
tools attempt to perform is much more complicated than simply editing
documents or reading e-mail. While Bill Gates' programmers are animating
paperclips, EDA tool developers are developing code to solve computationally
hard problems in a reasonable amount of time.
