You're welcome.

I just replied, so perhaps your "Sender" or "Reply-To" address needs
updating....

We've been around this many times in the DASC. The fact is, IEEE
Standards has to pay their own way with the IEEE, and so IEEE
Standards provides no monetary support to the standards making bodies
like the DASC and it's Working and Study Groups. We do need a budget
for our face-to-face meetings, etc. We cannot get this money from
IEEE Standards. So, we ask that people who are active in
standardization pay their own way. As an alternative, we could
solicit coporate sponsorship, but this approach has pitfalls of its
own.

Bottom line, most peoples' companies pay the DASC membership fee. As
one who until recently was my own company, I'm sympathetic to your
issues, but it's not going to change anytime soon. While I encourage
you to work to make this change, in the meantime, we want to keep
making standards, so this is the approach we've taken.

If you need the names of people at IEEE Standards to talk to, I'm sure
that either Vipctor or I will be more than happy to provide you with
the appropriate contact info.

Regards,

Paul
