RE: [sv-ec] class property lifetimes

If the BNF allows some syntax, we need to define its semantics, or make
it illegal, or my third choice: just allow it and ignore the fact that
the lifetime of a class property is slightly different from the way we
have defined automatic variables,

Static class properties have lifetimes that are identical to the way we
have defined static variables.

Subject: [sv-ec] class property lifetimes

Hi,

Can a class property be declared as automatic?

It would be redundant, but the BNF allows it.

However, some tools are not allowing it.

Also, with respect to a class property, not a method, is there a
difference whether the 'static' keyword is considered to be a
class_item_qualifier or a lifetime?

I don't think it makes a difference, but I want to check.

Thanks,

Shalom
