Sandeep,

It's my opinion that there are no multi-dimensional arrays, just single
dimensional arrays of other arrays. The term "multi-dimensional" is just
a conceptual view that refers to the nesting of adjacent array types.
Array manipulation and query methods should only work on a single
dimension unless there is an explicit algorithm for traversing adjacent
dimensions.

With each new revision of the LRM, we have tried to clean up this
distinction. Mantis 1362 is a placeholder for some of the remaining
issues.
