Hi Scott,
Someone just asked me a similar question w.r.t footnote25
25) The result of this expression shall be assignment compatible with an integral type.
Restricting the expression type to be compatible with an assignment to an integral is not specific enough to say that the resulting value will be cast to an integral type. I'm sure that was the intent, but that's not what the LRM says.

Hi Soumya,
Yes, you could use an expression that yields an array of reals as a set_covergroup_expression. A real is not a valid coverpoint type, so the reals would not end up being the bin values. The reals would be converted to the appropriate coverpoint type when the covergroup instance is constructed.
Do you have a concern that this is legal?
Thanks,
Scott

Subject: [sv-ac] Confusion Regarding set_covergroup_expression Mantis 2506
Hi,
For Mantis 2506, set_covergoup_expression is defined as "an expression yielding an array of values that define the bin. Any array whose element type is assignment compatible with the coverpoint type is permitted, with the exception that associative arrays are not permitted".
A real, is assignment compatible to integer, does that mean as array of real type can be used as set_covergroup_expression.
I have applied for sv-ec subscription, so for the mean time a directing my mails to sv-bc.
Regards,
Soumya
