If item 1324 is closed, the following bug note by Steven should still be
addressed somehow --

'Oh, and interfaces have another way of being "specialized" that
probably needs to be taken into account. There are mechanisms for
binding different instances of the "same" module to different
definitions of that module. I assume that the same mechanisms also apply
to interfaces. For example, a config can bind two different instances of
what appear to be the same module to two completely different
definitions.'
