ASTC joins Accellera Systems Initiative

ASTC launches VWorks to give customers new technology and business choices for electronic system level design based on Accellera Systems Initiative standards

ASTC joins Accellera Systems Initiative, launches VWorks to give customers new technology and business choices for electronic system level design based on Accellera Systems Initiative standards

VWorks, a new company of ASTC, will provide new technology and business solutions for electronic system level development, modeling, simulation, and virtual prototyping to customers in the industries for aerospace, automotive, transportation, communications, and multimedia embedded electronics and software.

To coincide with joining the Accellera Systems Initiative as an associate corporate member, ASTC, an industry leader in embedded system level software and hardware design solutions and services today announced the launch of a new subsidiary company, VWorks, and a new web business portal, www.vworks.com. VWorks will provide new technology and business solutions for electronic system level development to customers in the industries for aerospace, automotive, transportation, communications, and multimedia embedded electronics and software. VWorks will seek to advance and proliferate the use of modeling, simulation, virtual prototyping and other computer software based means for enhancing the capabilities of electronic system level design technology and reducing or eliminating the need for physical lab set ups, hardware prototypes, and multiple product revisions.

VWorks products include the flagship VLAB product line and related products, such as Genesis tools, OSCAR simulation software, IP libraries and a number of application specific solutions and platforms. VWorks products and solutions are based on a foundation of SystemC/TLM industry standards, including IEEE Standard SystemC 1666-2005, the Accellera Systems Initiative SystemC 2.2 reference implementation, and SystemC TLM 2.0.1, while offering a range of new and powerful value adding capabilities. VWorks is a pioneer in highly portable and interoperable electronic system level technology and solutions. It is dedicated to support an open ecosystem of unencumbered exchange of IP, models and data and unrestricted interoperability between tools.

According to Jay Yantchev, CEO of ASTC, the company was created to meet the needs of customers for better capability and scalability of electronic system level design technology - higher performance, broader application, and better returns. VWorks provides new technology and business alternatives to the state of the art electronic design automation (EDA) industry offerings. Specifically, VWorks seeks to significantly reduce the cost of the enabling electronic system level design technology and tools, reduce the scale and cost of engineering effort required to do electronic system design, and ultimately to significantly improve the ratio between effort or cost of investment in electronic system design and the benefit or return from such investments.

The VWorks technology and products are already well established, they have been delivered for several years now by ASTC under a customer intimate direct sales model to select semiconductor, electronic system, and OEM customers in Japan, Europe, and US, and have undergone numerous trials, production deployments, and rounds of customer feedback and improvements.
