Hi,

The text proposed for Mantis 2097 is

Another form of procedural continuous assignment is provided by the
force and release procedural
statements. These statements have a similar effect to the
assign-deassign pair, but a force can be
applied to nets as well as to variables. The left-hand side of the
assignment can be a reference to singular
variable, a net, a constant bit-select of a vector net, a constant
part-select of a vector net, or a concatenation
of these. It shall not be a bit-select or a part-select of a variable. A
single force or release statement shall not be applied to the whole or
the selected part of a
variable that is being assigned by a mixture of continuous and
procedural assignments.

This explicitly excludes being able to force any part of an unpacked
array or structure, even a single element of one.

Was that really the intent?

Thanks,
Shalom
