Regarding a summary of differences between 1364-2001 and 1364-2005:

1. First, there is the official errata sheet for 1364-2001 Version C.
This can be found at
http://standards.ieee.org/reading/ieee/updates/errata/1364-2001.pdf .
The section and page references are of course to 1364-2001 Version C.

2. Second, most of the changes from V2K1 to V2K5, those done until
close to the end, can be found at
http://www.boyd.com/1364_btf/report/vsgpassed.html , including those
found in the errata sheet above. The section and page references are to
various versions of V2K1 and V2K5, but for the most part, the section
numbers did not change very much until the very end of preparation of
V2K5, so the section numbers are mostly the same as in V2K1.

3. The last set of changes doesn't appear in the boyd.com database,
but rather in the Mantis database. However, those include some of the
most substantial changes. They can be found under the V-1364 or V-LRM or
V-PTF categories, in the Closed state. The most important issue numbers
are 667 (Time 0 order of evaluation), 680 (configurations), 687
(keywords compiler directive), 704 ($removal), 314 (Encryption), 688/705
($timeskew, $fullskew). This does not include PLI changes, which I am
not well-versed in.

4. Finally, a summary list of important changes, without details,
again without PLI:

a. many corrections

b. many clarifications

c. redefined generates

d. redefined power operator

e. added zero replication constant

f. added built-in math functions

g. added ability to use built-in math and conversion functions in
constant expressions

h. added uwire - only one driver allowed

i. added `begin/`end_keywords compiler directive

j. added user-defined compiler directives (`pragma)

k. added encryption (protected envelopes)

l. redefined $timeskew, $fullskew

m. changes to configuations

n. deprecated PLI 1.0 (acc/tf routines)

o. added support for generates in VPI

Hope this helps,

Shalom
